AR-15

Every gun show or gun show seems to be overwhelmed with AR-15 rifles, primarily in the military caliber, 5.56X45mm. These rifles will also accommodate the lesser powered .223 Remington cartridge. Originally designed in 1956 by Stoner and Sullivan. The military version made by Colt is knows as the M16 and was developed for jungle warfare in Vietnam starting in 1963, replacing the M14 for that purpose. By 1969 the M16 became the U.S. Military’s standard service rifle. Starting in 2010 the U.S. Army began supplementing the M4 carbine which is basically a smaller version and is what most AR-15’s are based on.
